What Makes Our Laminations Special?

The secret is in the metal we use. We use special nickel-iron alloys, also called Ni-Fe alloys. These are soft magnetic materials. They have amazing magnetic and electrical abilities.

01
1
Top Quality Materials
We use alloys with a high amount of nickel. We offer two main types. One is our 80% Ni, 20% Fe mix. This type is best for tools that need to be very precise. The other is our 50% Ni, 50% Fe mix. This type is great for parts that handle more power because it can hold a lot of magnetic energy (high saturation flux density).
02
2
Added Strength
We can add small amounts of other metals. We sometimes add Molybdenum, Copper, or Chromium. Adding these metals helps make the magnetic effects even better.
03
3
Strong Structure
Our metals have a special internal structure. They use a face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure. Some also use a body-centered cubic (BCC) crystal structure. This special structure is a key reason why the parts work so well.

At Sino, we get our metal from the very best suppliers. We promise to use only top-quality alloys. This means you always get the best material for your project’s needs.

From Ingot to Core: Our Precision Lamination Processing

To get the best from our special nickel-iron alloy, every step of the manufacturing process must be done with great care.

01
1
Cold Rolling: Getting the Internal Structure Right
The process starts with cold rolling. We take blocks of our special alloys and roll them down to the final thinness for the lamination, often just a few thousandths of an inch (like 0.1mm to 0.35mm). It is very important that the thinness is the same everywhere. This helps reduce unwanted electrical currents (called eddy currents). It also makes sure the magnetic energy is spread out evenly in the final nickel iron core lamination.
02
2
High-Temperature Annealing: The Key to Great Magnetic Power
The annealing, or heat-treating, step is perhaps the most important part. Stamped laminations are put through a very carefully planned heating and cooling cycle. The temperatures often go above 1100°C.
03
3
Insulation Coating: Stopping the Eddy Currents
For parts used with alternating current (AC), each individual lamination must be separated by an electrical barrier. This is done to stop eddy currents. We offer a range of strong insulation coatings for every nickel iron core lamination, chosen to provide:
  • High Dielectric Strength: To handle voltage differences between laminations without breaking down.
  • Thermal Stability: To stay strong across the full range of operating temperatures.
  • Mechanical Robustness: To be thin enough to stack tightly but strong enough to handle being assembled.
  • Controlled Capacitance: Our coatings behave in a predictable way for high-frequency designs.

Mechanical Construction: Building with Precision The last step is the careful stamping, stacking, and building of the laminations. Our stamping tools are kept in perfect shape to make sure there are no rough edges. Rough edges can cause problems with eddy currents. The stacking process is automated to make sure everything lines up perfectly. This gives us a high stacking factor, which means we get the most use out of the core’s size.

Powering the Best Products: Designs and Materials for Specific Jobs

Our Nickel Iron Core Laminations are used in many amazing products. They help these products work better, last longer, and save energy. We offer a range of materials made for specific jobs. This helps you pick the perfect alloy and core shape to reach your goals.

High-Sensitivity Sensors and High-Fidelity Audio

Our 80% Ni-Fe alloys give you the highest starting permeability you can get. This allows for the best possible sensor sensitivity. The low coercivity means there is very little magnetic noise, which makes the signal clearer. This makes them perfect for high-quality audio transformers, such as an audio transformer, input transformer, or interstage transformer. They help an amplifier or microphone get the best signal transfer for clear sound with no extra noise. A nickel iron core lamination is also critical in medical devices like Magnetoencephalography (MEG) systems, which need to sense very small magnetic fields.

High-Frequency Power
Applications

Our 50% Ni-Fe alloys, offered in very thin laminations (like 0.1 mm), are a great choice for High-Frequency SMPS Transformers and Inductors (above 100 kHz). Their ability to hold a lot of magnetic energy (high Bsat) allows for a smaller core size. At the same time, the thin material and high electrical resistance keep energy loss from eddy currents low. These parts are used in important industries, from power transformers for telecom and broadcasting systems to airplane electronics and radar power supplies.

Specialized Motors and Power Conversion

The high magnetic capacity (Bsat ~1.5 T) of our 50% Ni-Fe alloy lets engineers work with more magnetic power. This means you can get more torque or power from a part of the same size. We make all kinds of nickel iron core lamination parts for motors, including rotor laminations and stator laminations for every kind of motor: an EV Motor, a Servo Motor, a Stepper Motor, a DC Motor, and even a Fan Motor. Our parts are even used in the linear motor of popular EV models.

High-Performance Magnetic Shielding

Our 80% Ni-Fe material is the top choice for shielding. Its amazing permeability creates an easy path for magnetic energy. It effectively “soaks up” and guides magnetic fields around the area you want to protect. This helps stop electromagnetic interference (EMI). It keeps sensitive electronics safe and working well.

Comparative Analysis: Your Partner for the Future

Choosing the right core material is a balance of performance, cost, and toughness. Here is how our nickel iron core lamination products compare to other options:

vs. Amorphous & Nanocrystalline Cores

Our Ni-Fe alloys can hold much more magnetic energy. They are also much stronger and less likely to break than the brittle, ribbon-like amorphous and nanocrystalline materials. This makes our nickel iron core lamination parts easier to handle, wind, and put together. For you, this means lower costs to build your products and less waste.

vs. Soft Ferrites:

Soft Ferrites: For uses below a few hundred kilohertz that need a lot of power or must work in hot conditions, our 50% Ni-Fe alloys are a much better choice. They offer many times the magnetic capacity (Bsat) and are much stronger mechanically and at high temperatures.

vs. Advanced Silicon Steels

While silicon steels are very common in the power industry, our Ni-Fe alloys are in the top tier for performance. For products that need much lower energy loss and higher permeability than silicon steel can offer, our alloys are the clear next step up.
